Katy McKenzie - Central Elementary's Teacher of the Year 2017 - 2018

I am starting my 15th year teaching. My career has been spent at CES. I have taught second, third and fourth grades. I am currently in third grade teaching my favorite subjects, ELA and Social Studies.
I love CES because our students are diverse which makes each day an exciting challenge. Here, I get to be me and teach outside the box without any hesitations. It has been the greatest honor to represent such an amazing place as Teacher of the Year.  I pride myself with being able to make personal connections with my students. I believe reaching their hearts is just as important as reaching their minds.
I earned my Bachelor degree in Education, through the University of West Georgia, my Masters degree through Walden University and my Specialist degree, in Curriculum and Instruction, through Lincoln Memorial University.  I am a native of Carrollton. I am married to Corey Mckenzie and we have a daughter, Lucy Grace who will be a senior this year at Central High School.
