Pictured below, along with Central Elementary Assistant Principal Bret Hart, are cadets from unit GA-20062. The cadets recently came to Central Elementary to mentor with their "cubs" during this month's Adopt-A Cub Mentorship meeting. Cadets from Central HIgh School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps meet monthly with their 2nd grade cubs to serve in the capacity of Big Brother/Big Sister. This program has been an outstanding success for both the participants and the school.
Students at Central Elementary School recently participated in M&M Night (Math and Money Night). Students, along with their parents, earned Central Bucks by completing math problems then spent their Central Bucks at the Math Store the following day. Pictured helping a group of first graders with their selections are fifth grader Wesli Simmons and QUEST teacher Theresa Stapler.
Congratulations to fourth grader Jacob Waldrep for winning Central Elementary's Spelling Bee. The annual Spelling Bee consists of fourth and fifth grade classroom winners. Jacob will now compete in the Carroll County Spelling Bee. Pictured with Waldrep are Nicole Poncela (runner up) and Theresa Stapler (QUEST teacher at Central Elementary).
John Chapman, also known as Johnny Appleseed, visited the Kindergarten classes on Thursday, October 18th. Mr. Appleseed shared his knowledge of apples and how he helped farmers plant orchards during his travels. Mr. Appleseed gave each Kindergarten student an apple to encourage good eating habits. The students learned a great deal from this special visitor.
Pre-K students from Central Elementary School recently had a great time learning about fire safety from local fire fighters.
Carroll County Schools participated in the effort to support the organization Soldier's Angels.

Savannah McWhorter is the Georgia Young Author regional winner for Central Elementary School. Her story has been submitted for the STATE competition. She is shown here with her third grade teacher, Wanda Calhoun, and our 3-5 Assistant Principal, Beth Patterson.
Mr. Childers congratulates Diane Costley as Teacher of the Year for the upcoming school year. She will represent our school well as she prepares for this honor in the Carroll County School system.
