Bio

My name is Marla Turpin, and I am honored to be the principal at Central Elementary School. As a Carroll County native, I attended Central schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade and have always loved being a Lion.

After graduating from Central High School in 1999, I attended the University of Georgia and majored in Early Childhood Education. I then earned my master's from Jacksonville State University in Educational Leadership and am currently working hard to complete my doctorate in School Improvement from the University of West Georgia.

Being a teacher for 15 years was one of my greatest blessings. I taught at Glanton-Hindsman Elementary, Beulah Elementary and Brighten Academy in Douglas County, and Central Elementary. After teaching, I became the assistant principal at Bay Springs Middle and then Roopville Elementary. For the past 4 years, I served as the principal at Roopville Elementary.

I met my husband, Charles, at UGA, and we have been married for 20 years. We have 3 daughters: Annabelle (Senior at CHS), Addie (Sophomore at CHS), and Audrey (7th at CMS). Our favorite things to do as a family are attend church at Southern Hills, travel, and cheer on the Georgia Bulldogs.

Again, it is truly an honor to work alongside the fabulous staff and families at CES. I look forward to learning and growing with you and am always happy to help in any way possible. It's going to be a wonderful year!
