About Mrs. Hancock

I am so excited to be returning for another exciting school year at Central Elementary!  Prior to joining the PRIDE, I  taught at Carrollton Elementary. I began my  career teaching 3rd grade in 2003 and continued to teach 3rd grade for nine years.  Then, I moved to 2nd grade in 2012. After that, I taught a first grade transition class for one year. Then, I was a reading intervention specialist for a year, and now I am back to teaching 2nd grade, which I dearly love, and couldn’t be more excited.

I graduated from Truett-McConnell College in 1999 with an Associate in Arts (Early Childhood Education).  Following that, I graduated from the University of West Georgia with a Bachelor's degree (Early Childhood Education) in 2003, a Master's degree (Early Childhood Education) in 2004, and a Specialist degree (Early Childhood Education) in 2008.  Additionally, I have obtained both my reading and gifted endorsements, and I led a STEM committee through its beginning stages and throughout earning STEM school certification status.  I am so thankful for all that I have learned throughout my teaching career thus far.

I live in Carrollton with my husband, Keith (Central Class of 97’), and our eight year old son, Brantley, who is also a Central Lion. Keith and I were married on June 25, 2005. We are the owners of Almon Funeral Home here in Carrollton. Keith also serves as our Carroll County Coroner.  We are active members of Roopville Road Baptist Church, where Keith serves as a deacon and I sing in the choir. We have six nephews and one niece and we enjoy spending time with all of our family and friends.

Other than teaching, I love to craft!  I also like to travel, play tennis, read, work in the yard some (but not TOO much) and play with Brantley. I enjoy each moment I spend in the classroom, and I am looking forward to a great and exciting year with my new pride of Little Lions!

I know we are going to have a fantastic journey of learning together this year and I cannot wait to get started! It is going to be a wonderful school year!
